An Omegle alternative for text conversations

By Anonymous Chat · Reviewed

If you miss meeting someone new through messages, Anonymous Chat is one option for adults aged 18 and over. It offers free one-to-one text conversations without an account, email address, or public profile. You can talk without joining a video or voice call.

Start with the part of Omegle you want to replace

For someone who enjoyed text chat, a useful replacement starts with a simple question: can I have a conversation without going on camera? Look for a clear text entry point, an understandable search process, and a way to leave without handing over contact details.

Anonymous Chat is a separate service, not an official continuation of Omegle. This guide explains our own product so you can decide whether it fits. It is not a ranking of every alternative or a claim that one service is safest for everyone.

Omegle closed in November 2023. If you are looking for the reason rather than a new place to talk, the companion article covers the closure and its sources.

What to check before trying a text-chat alternative

A familiar name or homepage tells you little about what happens after you start. Check the actual entry requirements and read the rules before sharing anything. These questions make different services easier to compare without relying on promises such as “completely anonymous.”

  • Format: can you exchange messages without a video or voice call?
  • Access: do you need an account, email address, download, or payment before the first conversation?
  • Audience: what is the minimum age, and what behavior do the rules allow?
  • Controls: can you leave, report a problem, and block a participant?
  • Privacy: does the policy explain session data, technical information, analytics, and reports?
  • Expectations: does the site explain matching rather than guarantee a particular person or an instant connection?

How Anonymous Chat works

Anonymous Chat is for adults aged 18 and over. Basic text chat is free and does not require an account. Read the rules and start the search yourself. Only mutual gender preferences currently filter matches; ask the person you meet which language suits you both.

Each conversation connects two people. It is not a public group room or a feed of profiles. You can exchange messages, end the conversation, or choose Next to look for someone else. Report and block controls are available in the chat when a participant causes a problem.

A match depends on who is searching and which preferences are compatible. There is no guaranteed waiting time or promise of meeting someone from a specific place. Choosing a general chat category also does not guarantee that the other person shares your hobbies; discover those through conversation.

Make the first message easy to answer

You do not need a detailed introduction. Offer a small topic the other person can answer without identifying themselves: “What have you been reading lately?” or “Would you rather talk about music or games?” Sharing your own answer helps it feel like a conversation rather than an interview.

For example: “I am looking for a film for tonight. Do you prefer something funny or something mysterious?” gives your partner two easy directions. Follow the part of their answer that interests you instead of sending a list of unrelated questions.

If a person does not reply or the conversation ends quickly, you can try again. A brief match is not an obligation to entertain someone or explain why you want to leave.

No account does not mean no privacy risks

Anonymous Chat does not require a real name or email to begin, but what you type can still identify you. Keep your address, workplace, personal handles, passwords, and payment details out of a conversation with a stranger. Another participant can copy messages or capture their screen.

The privacy policy describes processing such as anonymous session identifiers, preferences, reports, and technical information. Read it before assuming that anonymous access means no data is processed. You can participate without telling your partner who you are; that is different from a guarantee of being untraceable.

If someone pressures you to move elsewhere, send money, share personal material, or continue after you say no, leave. Use report or block when appropriate. Those controls offer a way to respond; they do not guarantee that you will never encounter harmful behavior. The service is for adults only.

Is this the kind of alternative you want?

Anonymous Chat may fit if you want a spontaneous conversation through text, without creating a profile or joining a call. Basic chat is free. Bring a topic, respect the other person’s boundaries, and be prepared for conversations of different lengths.

If your aim is a video call, a public community, or browsing profiles before choosing a person, this product does not provide that experience. Choose based on the format you actually want rather than how closely a service uses the Omegle name.

Before you start on Anonymous Chat

The current search uses mutual gender preferences and excludes blocked or recently skipped sessions. The form also offers age, language, category and roleplay choices, but those additional choices currently do not filter matches. Ask your partner what language and subject suit you both; a stated age is not verified.

Ready for a conversation? If you are 18 or over, choose your preferences and start a search. You decide what to share and when to leave.
