Text roleplay chat: build a scene together

Text roleplay is a story written in turns by two people. You control your own character, offer an opening and leave a decision for your partner. Start by asking whether they want to write fiction with you.

Open the roleplay form

Offer an idea or ask for one

The form lets you express whether you have a story or want an idea. These choices currently do not filter the search, so ask what the matched person wants before beginning. Neither choosing Roleplay nor finding a match establishes consent to a scene.

Agree on three things

Choose a genre, who each person will write and any themes to avoid. For example: a quiet mystery, two adult travellers, no violence. Agree that either writer can pause or stop. Fictional characters and real participants are different; do not demand personal information.

Leave room in the first turn

An original fictional opening: “The museum closes in ten minutes. My character notices a second date beneath the painting’s label and asks what you make of it.” The partner can inspect the label, disagree or suggest leaving. Do not decide their response for them.

Keep the scene collaborative

Write a manageable turn and build on a detail your partner introduced. If you want to change the pace, ask outside the scene. A pause is not permission to write the other person’s character or send repeated messages.

Photos are a separate choice

Roleplay can remain entirely in text. Optional photo sharing exists, but nobody owes you a photo, contact details or proof of identity. Images can be copied; deletion does not guarantee that a recipient has no copy.

Stop when the scene no longer works

You can end a scene without explaining. If someone ignores a boundary, use Stop, Report or Block. The service is for adults only; sexual content involving minors, pressure, exploitation and threats are prohibited.

Frequently asked questions

Does roleplay require romance?

No. Mystery, everyday life, adventure and other agreed genres can work. Ask before introducing a romantic or sexual theme.

Can I return to a saved story?

There is no saved-contact or story-reunion system. Do not rely on finding the same partner after leaving.
